Samsung Galaxy 10.1.
I have a Galaxy 10.1 GT-P5110 which has hundreds of deleted e.mails, when I delete them do they go to a bin as in Windows, or are they permanently deleted. The tablet is running slow and sometimes crashing, could this be the cause?. Also, how do I delete my search and browse history?. Thanks. John.

John
When you delete emails they go into the trash folder, you'll then need to delete them from that folder also to remove them fully from your tablet. If you're using the stock browser:- Open the browser, Click the left soft key, Scroll down to Settings and click Click Privacy and security Click second item down - Clear History Click OK Hth |

Hi J1MBO, Sorry about the delay in answering, I am trying to figure out what to do, when I go to "settings" and click "security" there is no "privacy" button. I have sent all my e.mails, some of which I was saving, to the trash folder. Have I done it right?. I don't know much about these Android tablets, I have only just got used to Windows 7. Thanks, John.

Apologies for the delay in replying John.
I'm unsure which version of the Tab you've got or for that matter which version of the android OS is installed on it. Either way in most cases access is similar when doing such as clearing the history or cache. Again there's an assumption that you are using the "stock" browser, by that I mean you're using the internet browser that was pre-installed on your tablet, the world icon marked "internet" in this screenshot Open the app And then click the Menu button, that's the left soft key item 3 in this screenshot Which will bring up the following sub menu Scroll down and click Settings which will either open another sub menu like the screenshot below or open a long list of options Now if as above click Privacy and Security which will open the following screen And click clear history. and click OK If when you went into settings you were presented with a long list of options scroll down to the section headed by Privacy and Security and click clear history. Onto emails..... From the trash folder you'll need to delete them again to fully remove them from your tablet, hope this screenshot helps However if there's some of them you still want to keep you can always move them back into your inbox. |

Hi J1MBO, Many thanks for the help, I have followed your diagrams and have finally deleted all my e.mails. The tablet system is "Android 4.2.2," again, many thanks for helping me. I have printed off the pages you sent and will keep them. John.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news having read a BBC article only today about recovering 'deleted data' on factory re-set smartphones, they say only one sure tool to remove all traces is with ......... a HAMMER !
