Regent Street Motor Show - this Saturday
In case this hasn't been mentioned already, I just came across details of this free motor show in Regent Street, London (organised in connection with Sunday's London-Brighton Veteran Car Rally).
The website says: "A unique free-to-view London motor show in one of the Capital's most famous streets. Displaying over 300 cars spanning 125 years of motoring from the earliest 19th Century veterans to the 21st Century cars of the future." The details are at: http://www.regentstreetmotorshow.com/index.html All the best, Nicholas/Zircon |

Quick report - it was highly enjoyable .
About 100 pre-1905 cars, including wonderful marques of a bygone era, such as Panhard Levassor, de Dion Bouton, Sunbeam - as well as some names that survive to the modern day, including Renault, Fiat and Mercedes Benz - and so the list goes on. The great joy was seeing them all drive away from Regent Street in plumes of fumes - and in a few cases, steam! Very friendly owners from many countries who happily chatted about their cars. Amazing to think that over 110 years ago, these were the equivalent in terms of cutting-edge technology of the modern mobile phone - somehow I don't think any of the latter will be in full working order in 2123 . Even the huge headlamps on these old cars seem like works of art! There were also displays by Aston Martin of all eras, Porsche as well as the tiny Peel from the 1960s. All in all a great day out for free, which I can highly recommend for the future, Nicholas/Zircon |
