Default PAC SWI-RC on D99

My car has the standard ISO radio connector and I am using the blue orange and the grounded blue purple wires from the Steering wheel. I am having trouble getting the SWC to work properly with the connect 2 adaptor supplied -can ony get volume control to work so I tried a PAC SW1-RC . Here's my set-up: programmed the PAC SWi-RC the white wire of the adaptor to blue orange, set to ver 8 (same as Landrover) radio setting 6 OEM -tried all settings from 1 to 9. I have programmed one of these for a different radio before and it worked well but cant seem to get to work the D99.
Anyone used one of the PAC adaptors on the D99 and if so would be grateful if they could advise on setting
