Default power steering

hi gents
when I start my car in the morning the power steering makes a noise but after a minute it gone , am I looking at a big job as in three weeks having the belts done x3 , tensioners, pulleys, water pump etc (v6 2.0 )

Are you sure it's the Power steering?When a car is started the alternator can make a louder than usual noise for a short while because of the extra load.Take a listen under the bonnet to make sure what's making the noise.

you could be right all I know If i turn the wheel right to left it makes that noise

Default p/s noise

you seem not to have checked the oil level. if ok check the belt for squealing, another cause of noise. should not be so due to auto tensioning. if it does dribble some water on to the belt as a lubricant. DO NOT USE OIL!. [mind the electrics] peter

have to put my hands up found out that theres only a bit fluid in res and most of it is lyeing on the back of the rear engine tray , so I guess I am looking at a split pipe or pump
