Last year I bought a TV tuner ...something like a DVB ..64 model and 2 antennas from Jake and I left it until about 2 weeks ago for Jeff to do the install. Since then I have been on the road. London, Oxford, Bristol, Leicester and Whitby. At each location, I had no signal until I retuned the TV. Once tuning had stopped, the picture and sound looked pretty good. It does have limitations and the main one is having to find and lock onto a signal according to the geographical location. Maybe the technology is not yet there.

It's all down to money Phil.
One of the bonuses for Crown Castle 'the people that run the transmitter sites' is that they decided that when we switched from analogue to digital the transmitters could operate at much lower outputs for reliable signals.
This is fine to a point with most tv reception being at home with a large aerial on the roof to grab those watts with
Tv reception on the move has never been part of the UK's Terrestrial broadcast system so we have what we've got.
With the arrival of 4g mobile networks we may yet encounter further problems....
That's a story for another day
To be honest, the future of tv won't be through aerials or satellite.
The future will be super fast Internet for streaming tv signals and this is where the technology will be heading.
Much cheaper piggy backing on already there infrastructure than launching satellites and erecting massive transmitter sites!
Brave new world and all that

Hi Sean,

I have had a look at the sys.txt file and it has:

[warning]
speedcam_enabled=1
speedcam_warning=1
speedcam_maxdistance_from_road=10

There is no [speedcam] file in the sys.txt though

I have found the irritating sound and the path is:
iGO834 > Audio > sounds > !ALERT5. (a wave sound file).

I have listened to some of the other sounds which are much more pleasant.
There are 7 of them in files sound3 to sound9.
Any help to zap, or change, it would be appreciated

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob,

I think you will find id you put a "0" (zero) on the speedcam_warning=1 it will turn off the sound, but will still show on the screen, but you will get no audio warnings.

"O" is off "1" is on

Many thanks for your help guys.

I have changed this to a zero, as Tony has suggested.

It's a nice idea, but I'm not in the business of selling on tat that I know will break a few weeks/months down the line.

I'm not even sure it can be fixed - the problem is obviously the Android motherboard, and without you sourcing a new unit from Crapavin, as Sean has said, he merely distributes their factory rejects, so what exactly are you going to do lol. I doubt they supply replacement parts? They'd rather you buy a new unit.

A firmware update won't work, as has been tried proven with 3 different SD cards, including one provided by Tony.

Matt

I did send you several emails and a a couple of P.M's ref the SD card, I had sent you, I had formatted it incorrectly, but you did not reply to any of my messages, I am sure that if the card was done correctly, it would sort the problems out.
