Post High car tax

Hi,
Yes, the car I have had since 2009 is a facelift 2l Diesel Con SE. The car tax for 12 months is £220. I have just acquired a 2003 2l Con SE auto. Both required tax at end sept and the 2003 was £330. I am not sure exactly why but told it is based on emissions. It is something I was going to ask here, but you beat me to it. No doubdt someone will be able to expand on the reason

I have an automatic diesel and am miffed at the difference between manual and automatic, I believe it's down to the mpg ,so it appears we must asfixiate more squirrels than manual drivers

Default 1.8T Road Tax

Just looked at both V5 docs.
My 2004 facelift shows 163g/KM
The 2003 shows 190G/KM
So must be the emmissions
