And one last thing, is the Rover image for the 4:3 original screen (I hope)............Just need to replace the Rover unit with a MK3 B*W one, fleabay here I come!!!
Beware if you have a 4:3 screen.
The logo must be stretched (sidewise) by a factor 1.25 to look right.
The reason is that the screen picture (16:9) will be compressed to fit the 4:3 screen.

I have done lots of Mk4s over the years but not a MK3 so I thought that's Handy and downloaded the above image.

Things went horribly wrong

I put the CD and in and after a short wait realised I was not getting the normal progress bar. I left it going through the motions for 10 minutes before giving up and trying to eject the CD, it would not come out!

Just the red LED happily blinking away
Don't panic! I turned off the ignition let the unit shut down and then tried to eject it as that usually works but no it was not having any of it
Don't panic! I did a shutdown and battery off reset still no good it was stuck in a permanent software upgrade loop.

It was getting cold by then so I decided to start the car and contemplate the situation.

I turned the key and everything went haywire more flashing lights than on a Basildon Bond film set!

Don't panic! I did a shutdown and with the battery off disconnected the Sat Nav which I presumed was fried and interfering with the K bus.

Reconnected the Battery still loads of flashing lights.

Panic!

Out with DVM
Battery measuring 8 volts!

It had died at the very moment I was doing the upgrade

I fitted a new Battery today and everything is fine Sat Nav had taken the upgrade and survived the experience

Moral of this, check your battery is ok before you start!
