Can't believe no-one else has answered at all on this query. As far as I know the bm54 is much higher powered output than the bm24 amp - means less distortion at the same volumes. And I also read somewhere that the fade out for the nav voice was 'more gradual'. (The standard rover radio and the bm24 just cut the music/radio for the nav voice instructions, then cut back to the music at the original volume). Also the bm54 round pin version differs from the flat pin version as it was essentially made as a replacement for the bm24 radios. So the two versions aren't exactly the same internally either.

The only other difference is cost the bm24 tends to be a fair bit cheaper secondhand.

PS . The bm24 is still far better than the original Rover one - I have one in mine and the dual tuner is nice and the audio is noticeably better.

Standard Phillips amp is 4x 7w....single tuners so no live TMC unless you have Classic FM on.

Becker BM24 has round pins so is plug and play, fits the bracket too.
It has 4x 30w output and has much better quality internal amplifiers. The difference over the standard Phillips is phenomenal. It also has duel tuners which means you can have fully live TMC while listening to whatever station you like. Also, it constantly updates available radio stations which appear on the display which can be selected at any time rather than just scanning.

Becker BM54 has flat pins, so isn't a straight plug and play, you can buy an adaptor though. It doesn't fit the bracket as its a bit fatter than the 24.
It has even greater internal amps than that of the BM24 that produce 4x 40w which is really nice, if you have the HK too it makes a hell of a difference to the smoothness of the bass. Again, dual tuners so full TMC and also live station availability. The BM54 also has the functionality to make retrofitting the BMW Bluetooth system possible. On our cars it involves buying the seperate BT module, microphone etc and a bit of adaption on the wiring, but only the BM54 has the ability to process the input/output sounds and auto mute functions within the Highline system.

BM54 Back is a round pin version of the BM54 which was used by Land Rover, though this unit doesn't have the functionality of the BM54, but is marginally better than the BM24 with 4x 35w

Thanks Canonite - a much more detailed complete answer than I was able to supply.

Just like to add that as far as I knew, and I'm sure it's been said here on the forum before TMC doesn't work anymore anyway - even with bmw nav drive and a bm24 and tuned to classic fm I get nothing on traffic information and the 'TMC' on the display stays off.

Last time I was out I've noticed the TMC logo was illuminated in green which is supposed to mean it's active.
It's 15yr old technology borrowed from BMW after all
