Are the headlights flashing when you try to start ???

If so its the battery or connections thereto

Assume engine not turning over ??

Connections to battery appear ok will not tighten up anymore, together with the beeps the lower section of the IPK lights - Handbrake, seatbelt lights etc flash all other electrics as I said are working ok, no attempt to turnover just the beeps which made me think it is something to do with the immobiliser but cannot find anything in any handbooks or the online Rover Tech Manual

Oh and how old is the battery ?? They usually last about 6 years on a 2.5 Auto - at least they did to within two months with mine

Battery is a year old , lights are on full on full beam there is no attempt to start not even a click, starter motor is about a year old as is the cam sensor, battery checks out as fully charged. Immobiliser would stop any attempt to turn over this is why I am thinking along these lines.

I have stated that the battery has been tested and is fully charged and in excellent condition, have had a flat battery before - the headlights do not remain on full and the IPK lights do not flash together with the beeps when I turn the key (have had a flat/duff battery before) and as stated there is no click from the starter motor etc.

Tried that Peter - all the obvious tricks that I can think of even left it for 3 hours to see if there was a reset, disconnect battery to see if it resets etc, that is why I know the connections are ok, did them myself, I used to service my cars and motorbikes until they got too electronic for me (am nearly 67) and first bike was a Norton 350 in 1960 now that I could maintain and troubleshoot without any problems same with my A60 Cambridge ahh life was so simple in those days and cheaper but not so comfortable lol.
