Mine was the Inner Tie Rod - same symptoms, and quite hard to pinpoint.

Interesting, im hoping the new pinch bolt ordered will cure it many thanks. I remember when fitting the lower arm back into hub this bolt was particularly annoying to get tightened up. Last edited by Retap; 25th September 2020 at 14:06.. |

Cheers for the inner tie rod, rain held off so fitted it today and wheel play all gone. The job wasnt as bad as i was expecting. Wasnt sure if was going to find the original inner tie rod with the bit of weld on but yep this was the original, glad i bought the clamp tool as it came off no bother at all OLD INNER TIE ROD REMOVED DECIDED TO SAW IN HALF RATHER THAN TRY TO REMOVE THE BOLT WELL SEIZED, NEW INNER TIE ROD FITTED EDIT See the black line on the lower arm near the bush, thats where the crappy bush was fitted up to that was already fitted to this arm as bought, that Bush had to be cut off and replaced with a moog which seems much better. Its all pretty tight now no more play or clanking, soon time to see what MOT tester thinks.... Last edited by Retap; 4th October 2020 at 17:13.. |

Nope Do you have such issues or have you spotted something in my photo? I would like to get the bush bolts torqued up proper with weight of car on them but not easy to do without a garage ramp or pit and the garages around here all a bit posh and dont like to touch a 15 yr old car.... EDIT I do have an intermittent clank to resolve that presents now and again under heavy breaking, not sure if its exhaust, caliper clip or that rumoured gear box mount i have read about... IF i had space would love to rebuild the back end tbh. Last edited by Retap; 5th October 2020 at 10:20.. |

What did you use for removing the old and torqueing the new tie rod?
I've got to try and attempt this myself now and I don't have the special tool for the job |
