I use a 32mm King Dick offset ring.

The broach fits the hub nut securely, and the outer ring fits perfectly into the flange.

Fit a space saver, turn the steering to full left lock and remove the key, fit the spanner horizontally and stand on the end of the spanner with the ball of your foot.

Get yourself nicely balanced, then bounce on the spanner.........works every time for me

Cheers Brian, I think I'll give that a go. Just need to find a suitable spanner or might have to buy one.

Does it need to be a King Dick, or would a Little Winkle do the trick?????

Big bar is my method of choice with these - I believe the socket I use is of the impact variety, but it does the job.

You know what they say------Bigger is always better.

I always use a socket with a straight bar through it. I then use a short length of tube on each end. This then applies an equal force to the nut and not just to one side which adds friction to the effort to undo it.

Make things easier not harder.---

Stand on he end of the bar and hit the bar with a small sledge assuming you have unstaked the nut. I thought the nut was 31mm could be wrong though as my 32mm felt a bit slack. My 420 impact wrench made very heavy weather but heat + impact wrench worked --just.

You don't need to remove the driveshaft to get the strut out, or can't you shift the strut to hub clamp bolt either?

Can't remove either, but I've ordered a new 460nm rattle gun. Hopefully that'll help, but I'm also collecting 1m length of steel tube from a friend as a last resort!

Just a word of caution but take the rating on these impact guns with a pinch of salt - there is a massive difference in the figures depending on how they measure the torque, and breakaway torque is quite misleading.

My battery one wouldn't touch them, but my CP gun buzzed them off no problem - it develops a maximum of 704 or 1300 Nm, depending on what figure you believe...
