EP stands for emergency program where i think the ecu stops the fuel pump relay from operating to stop damage to the engine or gearbox.the best people to ask about this are either marinabrian or big russ.

The Relay I swapped with the other 201 in the fuse box.

The R5 relay has the 2 wires for inertia which are live (Brown/L Green + Purple/L green)
The Black/Purple (ECM) wire is live but the White /Purple to the pumps have no feed...

ECU was sent away and NFF.

Under the Bonnet fuse box removed and although the wires are covered in dirt the plugs are spotless.

Conclusion for me is either both the 201 relays are no good or the ECM is not sending the signal (but the wire is live?)

Am I missing something?

Thanks again for your help
Have a look HERE failing that, send your ECM to somebody who knows how to test it properly

Can anyone tell me if the ECM wire to the relay has power is the ECM sending the signal?
or is it permanent live and power cut for priming pumps?

Thank you

Default EP showing on dash

EP is showing on the dash, does this mean it could be anything, T4 time?

could be similar to this http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=119222
Check the first and last posts but then again it may be another problem. I think one of the t4 experts is required here

Peter,

The inertia switch feeds battery voltage to the fuel pump relay coil. You say that is live: good.

The black/purple is the other side of the relay coil which should be earthed by the ECM. You say it is live. That means that the ECM is not earthing it. That appears to be the problem.

The WP wire to the pumps isn't live because the relay isn't being energised.

Peter, if the wiring checks out as per my how too I linked to, then it looks increasingly like an ECM fault.

EP in the display is a result of the ECM not communicating on the CANBUS with the Jatco autobox ECU.

This is how it works, once initialised the ECM outputs a low signal from pin 10 of connector 331, via a black/purple wire to one side of the fuel pump relay pull in coil, thus energising the relay contacts.

The fuel pumps will now run.

However for some reason your ECM isn't initialising, so you need to check to see if you have continuity from pin 9 of connector 371 to the pull in coil of the main relay in the engine compartment fusebox (Terminal 85 black/pink wire), and also the presence of 12 volts at pin 1 of CO371 (yellow/red).

Also check fuses one and two in the engine compartment fusebox (the top two of the blade fuses)

Hi there - you checked the plugs that go into the fusebox:

Under the Bonnet fuse box removed and although the wires are covered in dirt the plugs are spotless.

On my CDT the problem was not the plugs going in but was that two very thin wires had broken inside the plastic sheathing but they were still in "one piece" so to speak - only by looking very closely could you see that there was something not right about them - they both had a "bendy bit" in them. Most of the wires are much thicker so probably are not susceptible to the problem

First of all, thank you to everyone for your help, pin 9 to main relay was a corroded wire inside the sleeve, looked like a pin size hole through the insulation tape and sleeve, wire was corroded approx 5mm inside.

Fuel pump running
EP off on dash
Fuel at filter and common rail

Still wont start, ...........
