Come down Dundee and Perth ways Les. Quite a few folks doing it where they think the forward facing average speed cameras on the A9 won’t be able to pick them up.

I went one better than that when on holiday

Imagine my chagrin when I went to get something out of the boot to find the six month old smiley plate was gone.

So after finding a dodgy dealer in Leeds who would knock up a number plate without documents, I wedged it in behind the rear seat headrests with a brolly.

Up there with the cool kids

Brian

P.S. it's in the right place now on the boot lid, I really should get another smiley to go on though

I came up the A9 on Sunday after a car meet at Dounne and thought I’m not gonig to get frustrated by the speed limit so sat at 60mph even on the dual carriageway and it didn’t take much longer to get to Elgin and I was completely relaxed. So no point in trying to defeat the average cameras, better to go with the flow

I totally agree. When the A9 cameras came live a local reporter ran from Bridge of Allan to Inverness. First time was just before the cameras came on line and the second run was after. Something ridiculous like 15 minutes difference in actual travel time and much more relaxed.

Helps now the lgv’s can run at 50 (56!) on the single carriageway sections so nobody bothers trying to overtake.

I honestly think given the drop in serious and fatal collisions the aim to dial the whole length should be dropped and the money spent elsewhere.

Not trying to hijack the post but a craze where I live is almost black number plates. Useful if you kill someone and do a runner, or speeding like in the other posts. No one can get the number. Come on police. Do your job.

Strange the police do nothing, many years ago I got pulled in my Triumph GT6 because the number plate was stuck to the bonnet and not on a vertical surface!

Seems the police are not interested in enforcing this crime anymore.

An accident between a gang of bikers and a car closed the road at Cullen. A fight broke out using metal bars and I believe four are up on an attempted murder charge. The bikes involved had black tape over their number plates

What police?

I do about 500 miles most weeks and apart from the odd traffic safety van and an Astra Police car going between jobs when did you last see a police car sat by the side of the road?
