Default V6 won't start - not the usual

So trying to bring my zt-t to life again.

I had parked it up after mot expired and due to being laid off left her until recently.

Now she cranks and cranks with no life. So checked the 15 amp under bonnet etc to be sure all good.

I thought of fuel filter seperating being an 02.....

....but looks like she's got the earlier vdo style fuel filter.

Now I'm thinking immobiliser here. But I'm curious to see if there's anything else obvious I've missed?

Can't think straight atm.

I had exactly those symptoms with my V6 about 18 months ago. Cranked but refused to start. After trying on and off for 20 mins, I eventually coaxed it to start, but it took a while to get up to full power and I had to fight hard to stop it stalling all the while. Felt like fuel starvation to me but like you, I have the older pump. I couldn’t find any reason for the fault, but I bought a new crankshaft sensor after that and still haven’t fitted it! The problem has not recurred (thankfully). Very, very strange. I’d hazard a guess that it had something to do with the autobox being in park but thinking it was in gear, but I have no way of knowing. There were no fault codes. I would be interested to know how you get on!

Had similar with mine but it was a 2.5. Mechanic was baffled. Someone suggested a battery reset, I did it, car started first time. Battery disconnected overnight and charged fully. Refitted. One turn of the key later, engine roared. Probably a coincidence but doesn't cost anything so worth a try.

A battery reset does nothing but make you feel better, all of the pertinent information is stored in non volatile memory

So yes, a coincidence

Good to know, thanks.

Sounds like I struck lucky for once then.

I'll stick to physiology and anatomy and leave the mechanical engineering to you

Oh, you have the more technical job that's for sure

At least my work doesn't talk, or complain too much when you hit it with a big hammer, it takes a special type of person to deal with the mechanics of the human body

Yet the mystery remains! I would be interested to know, when Colin finally gets it started, what (if any) fault codes were registered. As I said in my post, this happened to me once and I'm none the wiser why!

Well reset did nothing and still no fuel on cranking. Checked pump relay also, no change. So think I'm at t4 stage now.
