Shockers. How much would a garage . . .
How much would a garage charge to fit two new shockers on the front of the ZTT? (Parts supplied so garage labour costs only).

With the proper equipment (hydraulic spring compressor) and nothing immovably seized (i.e. bottom pinch bolt) and knowing how to then an hour to an hour and a half I'd guess, 2 at the most. Took me 4 evenings (8 hrs) to change both front springs and top bearings with the car on stands in the street and diy quality manual spring compressors. But that was after taking most of a day on the offside front pinch-bolt. Would've taken an hour at that bolt with the right approach from the first.

I think they expected to take 2-2.25 hours, it took them about 5 hours (using heat and I don't think I've ever seen such a long strong arm bar outside of a shipyard). Yes they did have to use the new pinch bolts but a good job, done well - £80 (and a bit of embarrassment between friends) Last edited by rab60bit; 30th January 2018 at 17:13.. Reason: More info |

Rear boot all trim is a ball ache to take out to fit them also, two hours labour fitting and removal all in there also I'd charge doing it.
Plastic pop off compartment would have saved so much labour time.

Rear ones a doddle - relatively to the front. Did both mine - front and rear. All went smoothly without any problems - I'd allow 3 hours max for the front - if you've got a good Spring Compressor. I'm sure a garage with good equipment would do it in less - no learning curve.John

Thanks for the replies. For the sake of approx. 3 hours or less at a garage I think I'll send it off them.
Getting lazy these days
