Question New to this site/ problems starting car 2.5 v6

Hello evry1 new to this site i have got MG ZT 2.5 V6 190+ Recently changed belts on it what a job and a half. Now havijng problems starting car when its warm loads of people saying its the fuel filter, seems to be a common problem. Why wasn't this problem resolved at the time when it was noticed. As have been told about clipping with a clip/screw on the market through dealers/xpart as an after thought . Does anyone have the same opinion as me??????

Hi, welcome to the forums, you're problem of hot starting sounds more like a sensor to me, If the fuel filter had separated, it wouldn't start when cold either. Does the car run correctly once it is going? Is it possible thst when changing the belts one of the cam/crank sensors got damaged?

What we need to decide is how the car ran prior to cam belts.Did you use tippex or the special tools to allign the cams ?
Most of the ones we do are slightly more lively after belt changes.

Thumbs down

Used tippex to do the belts, when it starts it goes like a new car but when it wont start it wont go it turns over but doesnt ignite. It was going before i done the belts, it is a 51 plate so had to be done (6 years) it had 65k miles on clock. Checked fuel filter and it looks nothing like the one in pdf file or the one in Haynes manual its a BMW filter problem only really started after belts done

My hot restart problems were down to a cam sensor. A few others on here have had the same problem.

Try to get it on a diagnostics computer to check fault codes.

Interestingly, I once got a crank sensor fault showing, but that doesn't seem to have come back now I've replaced the cam seonsr. For a non starter, it's got to be worth the £60 ish as its a common problem.

You have email,
I very much doubt the issue is related to the fuel filter clip. This is needed to prevent the fuel filter falling apart and if it has your ZT wont start hot or cold.
