Air bag light again
Hi EVERYONE
the airbag light stays on on dash, I have tried unplugging the plugs under driver and pass sets and reconnecting this temporary fixes it for a few days but then the light comes back staying on all the time. I have tried tying up the plugs with electrical zip ties but still have same outcome. Can I cut the plugs off and use normal electrical connector blocks in place of them? at least this would count out faulty plugs as the problem, I think I could do it without removing the seats or is it something else? regards Mark |

Try an electrical contact cleaner then reconnect/disconnect several times. If that doesn't work bend the pins, just a fraction.

Air bag light
Jules cut-off mine and replaced with aerospace connectors as a matching pair. never had a re-occurence! The issue is one of corrosion and it does not require dampness for it to occur, it is caused by a slight difference in electro-potential as the connector on the seat may be from a different supplier to the connects of the loom, hence a difference in metallurgy. This issue is not uncommon on many makes of cars.

If working on the underseat connectors doesn't cure it I would always suggest a T4, avoids all the frustration and potential expense of trying to find the cause yourself. Mine turned out to be a defective driver's seat belt pretensioner, nothing to do with the wiring, I doubt I would ever have found that out myself!

I had to change the pre-tensioner, the part the belt clips into by the handbrake. That cured the light on. Done all the bits under the seat as well.
