Best SIM for FBH GSM controller
I have purchased a used GSM controller - I believe a lewisrendal one. What would be a good pay as you go SIM - does it use 2g or 3G?
Also when it comes to registering the phone number to it in the how to it says to turn switch on and then off and shows just one on/off switch. Mine has 2 on/ off switches, so which switch do I use? Thanks |

you may not need pay as you go, just one that receives text messages.

Check reception from the providers in your area, no good if you cant get a signal!
Also check that the GSM is open to all networks..

I can get any network where I am. Was wondering what SIMs people are using as didnt want to pay a monthly tariff just for it to receive texts. I’ve spent a couple of hours searching, and seems Asda may be the best as you can add credit from as little as £1 and it doesn’t expire as long as you make 1 chargeable call or text from the SIM every 180 days. Pretty much all the others are 1 month or you have to add minimum £10 credit every 90 days.

That's all well and good but to make a call you will have to put sim in a phone to make one to keep it live or fit a new one when it stops working

You dont need to pay any ongoing top up once you have acquired a sim card to put in the GSM as when you send a signal from your phone to switch on the relay in the GSM that bit is free.
However if you want to receive a text message back just so you know the signal has been received then you will need some sort of credit, personally never bothered with the text back and all works fine for free
