I'm wondering if an email to Rimmers would do any good - at least make them aware? After I've tried the laptops I might just do that, though I don't expect they can offer any help as they don't make the CD. I'm on the verge of buying another RAVE for the Metro too, if it is worth it! |

I've dowloaded Acrobat 4 from that linl ok. When I try to run it, the same thing happens as with RAVE - the splash screen runs then nothing after that. I've tried compatability from Control Panel on it, but to no avail.

At least that rules out a problem with Rave (apart from the fact that it uses Acrobat 4).
The virtual machine idea should work but does that mean re-booting every time you want to get into it? Last edited by Blink; 21st August 2020 at 18:45.. |

PS. I already asked XPart about modifying Rave to run on a later version of Acrobat and the answer was no, so I don't think you'll get anywhere with Rimmers either.

Perhaps not much of a contribution but I run RAVE on a machine using Windows 98 because the CD drive on my main machine running Windows 7 is not working. The disc seems to load Acrobat 4 each time.
Are you in a position to use an older computer to view RAVE? |

I also bought the RAVE discs from Rimmers & all worked fine in Windows 7 & 10 (until the 10 update).
I downloaded/installed Oracle VM VirtualBox & I run it & other programs requiring an older OS in XP (virtual) on my Windows 10 laptop. |

Mh007, thank you for confirming the suggestion I made at #9 above, does do the necessary.

Ok, I've dug out my old (illegal) copy, this needs the PC to be rest to 2003 at the latest. Same fault now with this one - Acrobat 4.0 splash screen then nothing.
I've also tried the Acrobat 4 at 2003 with still the same fault; also the Rimmers Rave. It must therefore be a compatability problem with Win 10? I can't try the older laptop yet but will do later. |
