I saw 1 VAN today which was illegally spaced to read IVAN on a supercharged Range Rover Sport. Russian mafia in Preston

Also quite often see V12. Last time was on a big Beemer.

U2 is also knocking round my area.

However the best is DENIM (D3NIM) on a Maybach belonging to a Preston clothing producer. Much to our delight it got clamped outside the office I work in.

Ah... a crazed plate. Crazing caused by surface glazing expanding or contracting at a greater rate than the subsurface pottery. Sometimes the symptom of thermal shock or poor quality glazing leading to water ingress (because the surface is no longer vitreous) which can make the subsurface pottery expand ever so slightly thus causing the hairline cracks you see. Overtime the cracks can propagate but often do not affect the everyday use of the pottery item and can often be used for years without problem.

Some potteries are 'designed' to craze. Poole Pottery (for example) use some glazes that 'move' about and interact during the firing process that craze but it's part and parcel of the 'look' of their pieces and is often considered a sign of high-quality 'art' on their giftware pieces.

Here endeth the lesson on pottery glazes for today kids

Not worth the risk of Points or a fine these days.
Sooner or later an illegal plate will be spotted by the Feds
