Default Make Your Own Tools

I met a chap in Langley today whilst at a Motorist Discount Centre, he arrived in his diesel Rover 75 tourer, me in my 1.8T Tourer. Got the impression he didn't want to talk much, but we did have an exchange regarding the marque.

I was trying to find a cranked 18mm ring spanner and we spoke about the difficulty in doing some of the work, and he said as much as he loved the car, it did need one "to make your own tools", which I think is right.

Next thing is to take one end off the flexible 18mm ratchet I got last week.

I made a took to undo the plastic 3 hole things that hold the passenger fuse box cover in place.

sometimes making you own tool gives satisfaction, sometimes just buying the correct tool is easier

Why is it that the necessary magic forceful tool needed to do the lower wishbone bush is 18mm and the only one not included in sets, or "out of stock" is the 18mm, ring or open ended?

A couple of weeks ago,I was struggling getting the spring over the rubber boot of my ball joints,,
I cut a piece of plastic out of a milk bottle and made it into a 'cone' shape,,worked a treat, even though I do like to buy new tools, saved me some money.
