Could it be item 8 here on the Rimmer's site? https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID999751 Would explain why the gearshift is difficult to engage.

Sorry I'm guessing but I was hoping someone with a manual gearbox might offer a more correct diagnosis.

Don't worry your time to "pay it forward" (film title) will come. I've so many people to thank for the knowledge I've gained but a few of them I can mention, Arctic, Stocktake, and even MarinaBrian, but plus some members no longer with us or have have been banned, and I mustn't forget Rover 54 & friend.

Are you sure there aren't more experienced owners in your country? Yours isn't the first post I've seen from Romania. Is there no Rover Club or British Car Club?

I've got a guy coming up to me from Stockholm for a few checks later in the spring, at the moment the car is in winter hibernation.

You are right mate. It's the shift selector. Actually there's 2 cables #1 and #2 on rimmerbros, cant see much of a difference except one has a red color.

Both cables are 250 pounds, ouch. Besides the broken cable, could it be hard to move the shifter (even when in neutral) because of transmission fluid?

Found this thread, which also mentions the master cylinder and teardrop engine mount. I guess these will all have to be changed when I change the clutch disk.

Also, i talked with the guy who sent the power steering reservoir and said that the reservoir has a bracket and you can take the whole thing out and mount to my bracket. The size is right so I'm guessing it's true. Still will have to send another accelerator cable since he sent a RH version (shorter).

The location indicates to me that you're talking about the shifter linkage to the gearbox. Here's an enhanced shot.



- which I reckon is the connector for the cable to the gearbox change mechanism. It looks like the rubber bushing has collapsed and the zip ties are to take up the resulting slop. What a mess.

Lucky guess. Good of T-cut to confirm it, indeed a mess.

£250 ! any reason why you don’t consider secondhand? There are a couple of traders who might be able to help with a good used set, Trikey comes to mind as he’s been here long enough to have a good reputation.

Even ebay would save you some money, like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-75-...nBso:rk:9:pf:0

Check the lower mount (teardrop) before ordering, might not be necessary, and if the gearbox has recently been seen to wouldn’t the oil have been changed then? Think you should sort out the cables and check the operation of the gearbox. Even if I haven’t any manuals I have driven a few, and noticed that some clutches are extremely light and others hard, reminding me of my SD1, I’ve no idea why.

Double check using your VIN. I suspect you have the earlier linkage as noted in my earlier post.

Hey T-Cut, thanks for the link. I'm curious as why the difference between these two links and products? Also, in the pictures one has red color and the other one white/black color. (i'm still a bit confused)

How do I go about doing a VIN check? Is that ebay related or rimmerbros?

@Mike: yeah, I will have to inspect the lower mount first but I have a feeling. Also saw there are better metal master cylinder which will last me more than the existing one and just for peace of mind.

Also, tried to make a short fix video of a symptom I had boot "machine gun sound" and after reading the forum I got it fixed. Here is the result (i'm more of a visual learner so maybe it will help others as well):

I believe the shipping costs shown as logged out represents for UK only. When logged in it will check your postal code and country from your account and updates the shipping costs to international according to the size/weight of the package.
In my first order from them, it happened more or less the same.

Anyway glad to see another person that doesn't have afraid to get the hands dirty and try to fix the things in these nice cars Keep going.
