Not sure if there's a how to, but it's quite an easy job. Four self tappers hold each motor to the manifold. Just undo these ( with a magnetic screwdriver if you have one, so you don't drop them down the back ), and unplug the engine loom connectors.

When refitting, take care to ensure the peg locates in the rod slot for the power VIS ( front on top of manifold ).

Don't drop the rubber seal that is located between the VIS Box and the manifold.
Make sure the Balance valve with move freely between fully open and closed without sticking.

Hi David.
As promised below how to remove the power & balance vis motors from the manifold once you have unplugged the wiring from the vis.

Power vis first four self tapping screws

1

With the four screws removed and set aside safely you can now lift the vis from the manifold.
2

Note as you lift the vis you will see an are with an elongated hole
3

From this pic you can see how the power vis peg fits into the elongated hole in the arm
4

5

power vis motor fully removed showing how it as been peeled back
6

When re-fitting make sure the arm is pulled forward toward you, and the peg then will line up with the elongated hole do a few practice takes before you finally remove it away from the car
7

Once fully removed check the arm for up and down play and that it will move in and out freely
8

Balance vis is a bit more awkward as it facing you upright not flat so this is where the magnet screwdriver would be good but not needed if you undo so far then use your fingers.

Again four screws but as above a bit for fiddly these were easy as the manifold was off the car
9

With screws remove you can pull the vis outwards so far you will then have to reach in and hold the flap so you can remove the vis leaving behind the flap.
10

11

as you can see this one was very oiled up it is this ingress of oil which damages the vis
12

You can now remove the flap
13

14

Hopefully your will not be this bad below
15

Clean the flap and then if it is still a bit tight file a little of the edge I used a nail file
16

17

Now with your vis removed drop Mr Vis (Stocktake ) a PM and kindly ask him if he will sort out the vis for you even better ask him for one of the special balance vis which stops the oil ingress in the future you can even have self tester ones if you wished but best to ask I am sure Dave will give you all the answers you need to know, your car will be transformed
18

19

cheers Arctic

Superb post from Arctic!
In my view, the upgraded ones from Stocktake, with the test buttons, are an essential upgrade.

I still like pressing the buttons on mine.

Default Balance VIS flap position?

Can someone confirm the position of the balance VIS flap during reinstallation please? Should it be vertical or horizontal?

Thanks

The balance flap slides into the guide in the manifold. a correct working Vis motor will always rest with the flap open.
Although the shaft looks square it is actually oblong so you cannot insert it into the vis motor in the wrong position
