I suspect the lower final drive ratio of the 2.0 V6/190 gearbox will give it great acceleration and urban performance, while the higher final drive ratio would give pretty nice "GT" performance (suburban/higher speed driving) without the V8-like fuel mileage (I know, an exaggeration).

Cheers,
Glenn

I don't like the final drive ratio on a 190, it should have had an overdrive fitted!!

That was the point I was trying to make - sort of - that the higher final drive ratio (lower numeric) of the standard 160 gearbox might make the "new 190" more user friendly on the highway - kind of like an overdrive gear might if on the 190 gearbox.

Cheers,
Glenn

I do a fair few mororway miles in my 190, so when the release bearing took the slave cylinder out 4 years ago I fitted a 75 2.5 gearbox.
Now does reasonable revs at 70, but Rubbish low end torque from the 190, gas conversion combined with the higher gearing does reduce its capability 50 to 70. However, overall, it was a huge success, I wouldn't change it back.
I'm due a belt service this spring - it's last at 150k, I intend to retime the cams to something sane, to see if this v6 can produce better pulling power. I promise to report back.
A 6 speeder would have been better though..

Sometimes a one tooth advance can increase low rev torque without bending valves. Check how many degrees one tooth equates to.
