Hi Mr BigRuss.---Was the filter blocked with water ???
That would stop the engine just as surely as sludge.

Water has been known to enter the tank when filling at the petrol station.--

Drained out and the filter would be up and running again as would the engine.---

Some filters have a water drain plug just to get the engine started again.

It could be that and unless folk are aware of it they would say it must have been the filter because the engine started immediately with the new filter.

In lots of cases the system just needed the water removed.--( At no cost in a very short time. )---

The filter in question was completely chocked it wasn't water, it didn't allow enough fuel pressure for starting

On our cars the ECU will not allow the injectors to fire if the fuel pressure isn't high enough and on checking on T4 it was evident that this was the case.

I've also seen this when someone fitted a really cheap and nasty filter, goodness knows what they'd used for the element it just wouldn't let anything through it.

The correct filters on our cars don't have a drain

Russ
