It's extremely difficult to fit a brand new cap due to its rigidity and the lack of space to apply tooling. When I renewed my timing belts last year I re-used one of my original camshaft caps. It was easier to fit and has been absolutely fine. If yours is missing then it must have been removed and not refitted properly.
