Default no radio while engine running?

when i bought my car it had a Pioneer DEH-P3500MP fitted, which seems to be a decent enough radio, how ever recently it has been doing some odd things.

sometimes when i clip the facia back in place the screen dosnt light up, and i have to open and close it a few times.

but now all of a sudden when the engine is running all i seem to get is static, and no radio stations plays, i took the radio out today to see if the ariel had fallen out but its firmly in place. (this is the annoying one)

so as it stands atm, it only plays CD's, which is getting boring.

i guess the question i am asking is should i upgrade the radio, or is it something else? like the HT leads??

Thanks in advance guys

gunna try the old contact cleaner method and see if it helps

Interference from the rear screen can be caused by the power lead and the arial lead being too close together. Trace them at the nearside C pillar and keep them seperated
