Default Manual CDTi Gearbox oil change

So,

I need to do this today if at all possible for a long trip and a holiday.

I cant see any sealing washers on the Fill and drain plugs in EPC. Is this correct?

Are they self sealing ??

On other gearboxes ive done in the past there were no washers, or the washer was integrated into the plug. I wouldnt worry to much, the need to change them every time is a bit exaggerated even on engines in my experience.

One dodge with the copper sealing washers, was to simply get them cherry red then allow them to cool down slowly to soften them.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

As long as you dont over tighten the plug they dont really need replacing. Some cars have the factory original on for decades.

cool thanks.

Car was on a set of ramps, but I put almost 2L in and nothing came out of the fill plug....

Really weird. Had 2 x 1L bottles of MTF 94, and as I said, the car was on ramps, so it cant have been on too much of a slope.

Is everyone sure that the 1.4L in RAVE is not a typo ?

If it is the same as all other cars where I have tackled the gearbox oil, the car really does need to be properly level when topping up - both end to end and side to side.

Which usually means a pit, a lift, or on ramps at one end and a jack to raise the other end.

Default cgti gearbox

Hello, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.... what gearbox is on the manual 130 diesel please? Somebody told me Peugeot and somebody else told me Ford. Is there a six speed conversion? I am guessing if the box is Ford, the answer may well be yes? Thanks for any replies... Alan

This process is called annealing..
Get the copper cherry red and dip it in cold water this makes it soft enough to be used again

unless you had the back jacked up the same height as the ramps then you HAVE over filled it
Get it nice and level in both planes you will find it will now run out the filler hole
