Darlington Open Gardens 28 April.
Our garden in Darlington and one across the road, will be open through the National Gardens Scheme on 28 April (1300 to 1700) for various charities which it supports.
Entry is ₤4 and we'll sell you a cup of tea and a scone, if we haven't sold out like last time. The footpath to the River Tees (Teesdale Way) is very close. It's all here: https://www.ngs.org.uk/find-a-garden/?from_date=&to_date=&date=all_dates&order_by=date& location=dl15qt&by_arrangement=0 When we opened in the summer of 2017 I didn't expect a queue of 75s and ZTs due to the Raby Castle Classic Car Show on the same day. There isn't one this year so I'm optimistic. We had over 300 visitors and one member even had his own private tour the following day. There's plenty of parking on the street outside. I see that the Pumping Station in Darlington (Tees Cottage) will have the Beam Engine steaming on Sunday and Monday of the Easter weekend (21 and 22 April). Pete and Cath Proud |

You'd be surprised - just claim that you are creating a natural habitat for some rare species. The garden will be full of bearded chaps wearing scandals all day! |

The Beam Engine is a late one.
The Gas Engine is more important. It has its own Producer Gas generator, now cracked so runs from the domestic gas supply. The pumps are driven by what the local paper described as a 'galvanised rubber belt'. Pete |
