Pop a supply on them too...

I think either would actually look ok in the bumper position you are going to put them, but if they are from different sources the outputs could vary a bit and might make your decision quickly....

When connecting the DRL relay, has an inline fuse been fitted and if so, what rating?

I wire mine as side lights, that way a relay and dimming system is not required.

I have a controller that not only dims the DRLs but also, turns off the appropriate DRL when the indicators are flashing so I feel that a fuse in the line would be a good safety idea but I don't really know what would be the best rated fuse to fit.

This is what they look like on a Mk1 -




They dim 50% when the headlights are on.
