Google is your best friend when it comes to facts not fiction, but can work the other way around at times.
All broadcast work will be copyright.

It is illegal to make a copy without the copyright holder's permission. There are no exceptions unless the copyright holder makes it clear that the work is free to copy or re-distribute in some form.

***DISCLAIMER - I AM NO LEGAL EXPERT!***

As far as I can see there is an exception in the US which allows for home taping however this does not appear to be the case in the UK.

Didn't know that I've been breaking the law since I was a child making mixtapes etc! That said the music industry have said time and time again that they have no interest in prosecuting individuals making a copy for their own use they only go after those sharing and / or making money from it.
If you do choose to record from the radio then technically you may be breaking the law however in reality you're probably more likely to scoop the jackpot on the lottery then get done for it.

Having studied media and including media law, I can say that by law the copying of a radio production without consent is illegal. However the main point of the copyright law is to protect the authors work. therefore it is to limit the reproduction of works to the public domain. So in other words they are not bothered if you record a radio programme to listen to later. However if you were then to sell/rent copies it would be a serious infringement.

As for the recording on tv options, the parties involved will have agreed to allow such.

Hope that helps.
