Tailgate

The tailgate on my tourer open, closes, locks and unlocks without problems, although often the interior lights and dash warning light stay on. I have to open and close the tailgate and on most occasions all is then well. Sometimes I need to do this couple of times. Any suggestions about why I might need to ‘fiddle’ with to solve this. I do have dog in the back most times, and notice that his bedding lying over the edge can cause this, but it is not always the case as I usually remember to make sure it is clear of the edge.
