Those Les Paul models pictured above don't hurt your fingers, the action is very low and they are strung with 10 gauge strings. The sunbursts neck is a 59 profile and the custom a 1960,which is a slightly thiner profile and a bit faster.

Les Pauls are more likely to hurt your shoulder, bit like my Yammy SG2000. I stick (no pun intended) to playing drums, nowadays...

Very true, they keep the more dense mahogany for the higher end instruments like the Custom that weighs in at 8lbs..

They say you can have two pieces of mahogany, each of equal size, one could be 3lbs the other 10..

..and they also say that mahogany can also sink in water.

Well done Steve on picking up the axe. WD40 on your fingers and you'll be away

My son already had a Fender copy and an accoustic I got him when he was 10. Last Christmas. I bought my son this guitar.

I play a bit, but my son, now 12 is amazing and just blows me away in his playing. The next Buckethead.
Looking at the guitar, it isn't hard to guess what type of music he plays.

What an axe,the tremolo frightens me to death

Wonder if he ever needs the extra 2 frets? unfamiliar territory for me..

You should see him go Paul. Seen him use the top frets. He has a lightning fast, precise strumming action. Can do all the hammer ons and harmonics, power chords and very fast solos.
He is trying to play it behind his head at the moment

My guitar is nothing fancy but we have a lot of history, i bought it in 1987/88ish & have become very attached to it. It went through the wars a few years ago when i lent it to a friend who thought it would be ok to leave it out of its case & put it in the back of his van. This was fine until they arrived at their destination & opened the doors - the guitar fell out of the van & damaged both the body & neck. Luckily because i was a paintsprayer in a bodyshop i managed to repair the body & painted it in a similar shade of red as it was when new but i did add a gold fleck to the paint. It has had a lot of use over the years - during the late 80's up to the end of the 90's we were playing usually twice a week.
It is a Fenix Thinline Telecaster copy that was made by Young Chang which is quite rare - the guy used to work for Fender & he ended up having to stop manufacturing them because Fender took him to court.

Perhaps i should try that - it maybe easier to reach as my stomach seems to be a bit larger than it was last time i played
