Default Vote your mod into office?

I have been following Kierianswood's thread with interest and Chriskoi's suggestion of a voting system with regard to moderators caught my eye.

I agree with Parker's response as this is a pretty good idea in my opinion.

Given recent problems and quite a few members feeling that the forum has " changed" this could be an excellent opportunity to get everyone moving in the same direction again.

Some members concerns regarding the lack of transparency would be relieved as they too would have the opportunity to campaign for their own chance "behind the scenes".

Very democratic I say.

So, what do you reckon? Vote for your mod or not?

Democratic it would certainly be Corin.

Logistically, I imagine it would be quite some undertaking.

However, in my view, the benefits to the club forum would far outweigh the logistical problems and work involved in carrying out such an operation.

Anybody willing to do such a thing for the community would certainly be held in high esteem. I imagine that this would be, to use a disgusting but appropriate word, ground-breaking.

Not all of us keen though. One NAY almost immediately. Still, that's the value of a democratic community. People can do what their conscience requires

I´ve brought this up before. The owners haven´t liked the idea. The -other side- have made it quite clear that they hold all the cards and there will be no voting etc.

Untill the people how own the club say that they go along with this, it´s a bit of a dead duck. They will do as they wish anyway. Including saying who will be a mod or not.

Very good idea of course but a democratic process in a non democratic environment won´t work

I have voted for the vote (bit late).

This could work very much in favour of any individual or current moderator and I could understand how this could seem threatening to anyone currently holding that position.

However, if your great at what you do and go the extra mile to provide information and guidance then that is a sure fire way to ensure your position every time.

If work and life pressures prevent a moderator from performing their duties or if youv'e just had enough at some point then there is an ideal opportunity to take a back seat and let someone else in. Just don't put yourself up as a candidate.

That may well be the case Alan, but the exercise is useful in and of itself, regardless of whether it matures into fruition

Correct very useful indeed, it enables me to cherry pick the users I want to ignore much easier.... oh what's that you say? some more Latin pomposity was it, I cant hear it anymore.

For anyone else sick to death of these bullies with there relentless campaign of hate against moderators who they deem not worthy, click on their name choose Add to Ignore list.

I so very look forward to being ignored myself
