Thats the next strike to happen then the AA merger but neither will happen unless BA sort out the Pension Fund Problem which is what is stopping everything at the moment.
Both can cancel any agreement if not sorted and at the present time BA are stuffed as haven't now got the money. At least shareholders won't be getting any payouts for Christmas or New year or maybe................ |

It's not the Flying that is at fault.
The thing to know is who to fly with. Disruption by Unions always happens at seasonal times. |

The union made a stuff up.
When Unite were trying to sort out things when BA Connect were taken over by Flybe they completely stuffed up the ballot within the engineering dept ,people not getting ballot papers and people who had left getting one, they would not send out replacements and then pressed ahead without a toal unanimous agreement and sold the boys down the river. Therefore i have nothing but contempt for that union. Let us hope willie w has big enough b***s to see this through. The cabin crew have had too much power for too long. They should remember that there are a lot of people who need jobs and would see a job within B.A as a cushy number. |

Probably a throw back to the nationalisation in the 70s, as it seems that most companies that were nationalised around that time, have had efficiency and union type problems later on. Even 20 years of re-privatisation and they have not made the neccessary adjustments to keep up with Ryan, Easyjet and others.
They are probably doomed to failure, as the public have no confidence in them. Perhaps the company should split into 2 and call themselves BOAC and BEA. Matt |

I have no connection to any airline or air related industry. I do, however, have every sympathy for anyone in a job, any job, who has their life turned upside down by grossly overpaid managers who shouldn't be trusted to run down to the corner shop for a loaf of bread!
Good luck to the strikers and I hope their new strike in the new year brings the whole lot tumbling down. |

From the comparisons that I have seen BA cabin crew receive far far more in pay and perks than any of the other unions.
It also makes me laugh that they moan about the number of crew on long haul being cut by one. My experience of long haul is that the crew get the food and drinks out as quickly as possible and then pull the curtains round the rear seats and get their heads down. If you are lucky one crew member is there to provide a service. It is not a good thing when conditions of service are changed but perhaps far better than being made redundant - Virgin will not say 'as you are ex-BA we will employ you on those conditions'. What does it cost Union bosses to be pig-headed, nothing as they will still get their salaries. Also a lot of the crew were apparently shocked that it would be a 12 day strike and this along with the fact that the Union did not hold a legal ballot and thinking of leaving the union. I will admit that for short-haul I prefered BA (Gatwick to Toulouse) where I also had the choice of easyJet (whose cabin crew seem to have a nice laid back air as opposed to BA and the even snobbier Ryanair) because it was allocated seating. However, BA have now gone to Heathrow so it will be easyjet for any short trips. Otherwise it will be the 75 for the 734 mile journey.

Sorry, but shouldn't this thread be on an airline site, not a site devoted to our favourite car?
