Removing the leather cover from back seat, anyone done this?
Hi Folks
My recently purchased Jan 05 connie saloon had some really bad damp issues, boot and cabin. It's all dried out and happy now but the metal frame of the rear seat back needs rust treatment. The sides are joined via a zip but there is no zip catch with which to do it up again and I'm loathed to just undo it all if there's no way back. Has anyone attempted this job? I can't find anything on this in the "how to's" Thanks Dave

they are zipped at the factory using a special tool.
its a case of pop the zip manually and then staple or stitch back afaik.

Be prepared for a shock ! It's amazing just how rusty untreated metal gets after a few years.
I've recently taken an MG back seat apart with a view to fitting the ski hatch to my 75. It's not as easy as first appears but it was the rusty seat which shocked me a bit. |

I recently took my rear seat apart including undoing all the Zips and like you I had no zipper to re do them
I was fixing my jammed seat and doing a how to at the same time and also found rust in there, looks like the metal was not treated at the factory I bough a zipper off e bay after measuring the width of the zip which did the trick and have now left it on the seat

Rusty seat Catch
I have noticed how rusty the metal is around the orifice at the back of rear seats, where it engages with seat catch. How do I address this rust?
