Where do I get this rather quaint material for the embellishment of my transportation?

Have a look for the Meguiars stand. The clay is sold in a bundle with other stuff.

Meguiars stand spotted in my local Halfords, with clay and some very expensive other products.

(Train of thought, Hal, short for Harry, which is short for Henry. HenryFord?)

Excellent link there Ghost, loads of useful information and it cleared up a couple of questions I had over using clay. Holly was nice too!

I bought some clay today don't know when I will get around to trying it but I think it is worth a go
