MG7 for sale in Europe!!!
I am not sure if it was posted here before, but I have just discovered a brand new MG7 for sale in Europe!!!
Strangely enough, it is branded as MG750 (so not MG7 or Roewe 750!) and costs from 24900USD for 1.8T and 28900USD for flagship 2.5 version. And guess how have they called the 16" alloys in the cheapest version of MG750? Rover Classic! So, if you are interested, please visit SsangYong showroom in Minsk, Belarus. adam Last edited by m0sko; 19th March 2010 at 13:28.. |

Australia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand...
... all RHD countries, all pretty close to China. Seems like a pretty damn big market to ignore!

I have to agree that it wouldn't sell here as well as it once did. There are far too many good used 75s/ZTs around, which in some cases cost less than 10% the cost of a brand new one.
However I do think the MG brand still holds a strong position in the psyche of the lay motorist. With the right marketing I do think a reasonable success could be made of the car in the UK, however what they offer would need to be a significantly narrower range than in China etc. Realistically, I think the V8 grilled versions are the only ones which stand a chance of selling in the UK as they are significantly more striking and butch than the MK2 type grilled versions, creating a more impressionable aesthetic. The emphasis would really need to be placed on the combination of sport performance and luxury as opposed to the previous system of one or the other, possibly with prices pitched at the bottom end of the rep-mobile spectrum to try to tempt sales and family buyers. I do think as per the MG TFs we were allocated, the lure of the MG brand would be a large sales asset, though only if the most MG-ish versions were provided. It would never be a sales phenomenon, but it could certainly provide a route for MG back in to the UK market for future models. All that said, the website from Belarus is brilliant. Cigar Shape? King of V6? I know certainly that should I ever become wealthy enough to afford a brand new car, I'll be making a trip to Belarus to bring one home. |
