To my mind comments above show that someone who puts time and money and a whole lot of research into a V8 will end up with a car worth much more than its parts.
The moment I win that darned illusive lottery I will be buying up any V8 ZT (or that V8 Rover 75 MKII I know is still alive and well in New Zealand) that I can find

You wouldn't want to be buying this, unless you had the same amount again to put it right when it goes wrong, and it will

Rubbish. None of the bits you mention are unobtainable. Never once had any problem getting bits for my R75V8, not that I need 'em being so reliable and over 200k miles at that.

The only thing that seems to be not available for the V8 are the tierods for the steering rack

And why is that? they are a standard LHD steering rack turned upside down......now try getting front dampers where the spring cups have rotted away, now that is a different matter, at least

Sorry but some of the offers I've had beat your offer, although none of the current offers are anywhere near what I'm looking for.

So far been offered my body weight in Jelly Babies.

Fair enough (if you make a habit of parking badly, you'd have to get a few Rowe ones!). Shockers were Two-Sixties commissioned and are X-Part at present and Bilstein for refurb even, I understand.
But bottom line is that parts availability is not really a valid reason for not buying a V8. Can't think of any reason actually; once you've owned one you will find out what I mean!
