it seems the dealer has accepted verbally to fund the repairs within reason, although I am wary without that being written down.

Doesn't look like I will have trouble sourcing a carpet, although it won't be cream (gray or black) however that's easily covered by some mats.

Hopefully everything sorted by end of next week

hello all, thought I would give an update.

I collected the carpet from Eddy's in Halifax last week and later on went to see Russ (thanks to both of you guys for the help). We spent about 7 hours in the cold and eventually the dark, swapping out the carpets. It was an absolute bath down there! The front driver's side sunroof drain was detached which explains the issue. Russ also put in a new parking sensor box which wasn't previously working and which the dealer had said was "too big a job". total cost of repairs = £120.00.

Whilst doing this we discovered that the T4 couldn't communicate with the airbag ecu and also that there wasn't even a fuse for it. We therefore need further work to rectify that - quote of around £100.00 (could rise).

I have a complaint raised with the AA who are mediating between myself and the dealer. Prior to discovering the airbag fault, the dealer had agreed to fund the cost of repairs for the carpet up to £150.00. Obviously I have raised the issue of the airbag and he is unwilling to raise the offer. I want to draw a line under this so I think I will just take the £150 and fund the rest and report him to trading standards.

I have noticed that the left side carpet is damp after the past week's rain (right side still dry) so I'll investigate that over the next few days and carry out the sunroof drain mod and cut the duck bills. After that it's another trip to Russ to sort out the remaining niggles.

all in all this has been an eye opener but I absolutely love the car so in the end it's worth it.

It may well have been a faff, but all in all sounds like you should end up with a decent car. These are good cars, but now getting on a bit so need a bit of regular TLC, so if you're prepared for that it shouldn't be a problem.

I would cut those duck bills ASAP with the weather at the moment! If they block, then the rain leaks out of the joins inside the car.

As others have said, plenty of TLC and you are on to a winner. My diesel is the best and most reliable car I have ever owned. (Now 13 years plus. )

I'd be tempted to temporarily seal the sunroof Yann, it doesn't work at the moment anyway and we can sort it out later

PVC and GOrilla tape, shouldn't let anything in!
