Default Intercooler 0 rings not got any ?

Whilst having an oil change (another issue) I was able to have a limited look, more feel of my intercooler inlet/outlet and I Just have a pipe and jubilee clip on the intercooler outlet. There is no O ringed plastic pipe ? Having had my 2005 ZTT CDTi Auto from new this must have been a factory mod being aware of the problem widely documented on this forum.
I had a look/feel because I have slight oil in the general area when looking from above and thought my 0 rings had blown. But obviously i never had any !!! and MY JOINT is secure. Provisionally I have been able to trace an oil trace/path on the underside of the Intercooler pipe coming from much higher up,when I get the time will investigate and get back .obviously going to be an easier fix being much higher up whatever it is.
I have never seen this mentioned in other related posts.
Any feedback please. Paul

Hi Paul.
Never heard of this or seen one, any chance you could get a photo of the intercooler hose attached to the actual intercooler, I can not imagine how it is holding on as there is only about 20mm of outlet pipe sticking up from the intercooler, this usually as the plastic pipe bend inserted into it.

That's interesting. Is there any reason why the intercooler spigot wasn't made longer to accept a straight down pipe and a clip? I'd have thought a nut and bolt (fuel pipe) type clip (or 2) would have been a better idea.

Hi ,
I may be, and am probably wrong about not having 0 rings .And i hold up my hands and give apologizes.
But as I originally said, it was more feel than look when just the under tray was off for a garage oil change. But since have had a look from under bonnet and can see jubilee. So must be wrong !
I have just received some parts from DMGRS. 0 RINGS included.
So when I get round to it I will let you know.

Ring-less intercoolers are available as an aftermarket item but not sure if they were ever oem.
