Default Re-Map. Insurance Implications.

I was discussing today the subject of re-maps. I raised the matter of insurance implications, and was told that, should it come it it, my insurance companies would never know, as they don't have/never use the necessary equipment to detect such modifications.

I have no plans to have my car remapped, but am curious as to whether insurance companies actually pay attention to such matters.
