i have just got off the phone to the seller of these, and they have doggedly suggested I wait - I can't recommend this seller currently though, as in my book, if it says they should be delivered on nov 5th, yet they suggest leaving it to saturday for them to turn up, whilst practical, not really very good service. i pointed out that they haven't fulfilled their side of the bargain by delivering them when they said they would. They knew that because they claim mine weren't posted until the 4th, yet the ebay listing says dispatched on the 2nd anyway. Very poor and disingenuous

Even if you want these, I can't recommend them currently tbh.

Mine turned up within the time frame so it would appear their postal service may be a bit hit and miss

probably true Jeff, but they shouldn't mark as dispatched when it wasn't even made according to the girl I was talking to. Also I have your delivery to compare to - they had yours out to you 2 days ago when i ordered the next morning after you.

Its largely about how they deal with things for me. They could have at least offered a partial refund when they were caught out lying - saying its an auto ebay message is horse poo, because I've sold on ebay too, I know it does that when you mark you have sent it and not before. I even suggested a partial refund and they just kept on like a stuck record saying wait.

Let's hope they turn up soon for you.

Companies don't have the levels of customer service these days, it seems everything has become all about the price

Don't appear 'contoured' to me. (but then I've never actually had my front door cards off yet): unless that step is the only contouring it needs?

The original plastic ones don't sit flush as the parts where the screws go in are raised from the main body.
I'm going to hope that the offset step on these will mount something similar, won't know until I have a play which at the moment is going to be a while away

well my rings didn't turn up this weekend which screwed up my plan to fit them this weekend I'm afraid, but I will hopefully do it next weekend if they do turn up!

When i do get to it I will take pics of the fit at the end of it if it helps.

on the plus side, I have fitted the HK parcel shelf and sub - so, armed with my newly fitted preamp out connectors, a visit to Clacton is now required at your earliest convenience Jeff - pm sent!

a quick question on sound deadening with stuff like dynamat, or silent coat - would it be best to put this underneath the mdf rings against the panels and screw it down on top of it , cutting a hole inside the ring obviously - or to fit a sheet (with hole) over the top of the ring once it is screwed into the door already?

I wasn't planning on putting more on the inside of the outer door skin as it seems to have a reasonable (>25%) coverage of a similar product out of the factory, however I was considering fitting more of this stuff on the rest of the inner surface of the doors.

Presumably the idea is to cover all the 'holes' up on the inner face?

Also, is it overkill on the inside of the door card too?

What you need is to place some water resistant foam under the ring - the stuff that will keep the rear of the speaker dry but not affect the sound.
I fitted these exact rings and they fit the holes exactly but need a bit of bodging as they leave a 5-10mm gap around the bottom half which ideally needs filling.
And you will definitely need some dynamat/alternative on the outer door skin - what's there already does nothing.
Unless you're after audio perfection - that will give a huge improvement alone. Better still if you at least cover/seal the big hole - old number plate works ok.
