Default Scrapping the rover.

So iv phoned 8 scrap men this morning to take the car away. After them asking what car is it they say "no fanks mate not for me" Why is that? surely a scrap car is a scrap car regardless of the make.

That's because there's little to no money in weighing it in. They're probably only interested in ones where they can quickly sell parts. It's been the same where I live for some time now - most of the big scrap yards will no longer collect for free.

£38 a ton he tells me, this time last year £150 a ton. He blames the slow down in Chinese economy.

That's True, the Chinese are no longer buying all the steel they can so the price of scrap crashed a while ago.

The only stuff scrapyards are interested in is the stuff they can make money on selling the spares from, you would probably get more money for an Astra or Montego with the price of scrap at the moment.

My mate recently scrapped an Audi A3, he had two scrap yards bidding on it in the end. In truth they probably made very little on it as we had taken the few good bits off it and it done 240k miles. The guy who collected it just turned up with an envelope and he picked it up with the grabber.
