I would have thought the silcone would have been better than the seals, rather than use it as a temp fix. Is there any benefit to using the oem seals?
My car is slowly being silconed together! In a crash it will just spring back to its original shape with the amount I used!! Still got to do my rear windscreen as thats been leaking for over 7 months now. |

The trick is to tacke them out and give them a wash in warm soapy water to remove the grime. Allow to dry, then I glue the join with superglue, again leave to dry. They apply a light coaut of vaseline to both sides. Then refit to the opposite side that it came off. The reason being is the lamp side seals on a very thin edge which compresses over time. Make sure the appature in the rear wing is clean and re fit the unit. When you tighten the 3 nuts, push th lamp in, and tighten finger tight equally, then nip up with a socket. Do not over tighten them. Sit back and admire your handy work.
