Our cars
I agree with all the comments about keeping what we have going. I am constantly spending on mine but I also know people with much newer cars who also spend a lot.
At least I pretty much know what I have and, unless you are able to do your own work any car costs money to maintain. The pleasure of driving them is worth it as well.

I'd like to say thanks for all the answers, but the button has disappeared... don't know if it's a site problem...
Anyway yes, I agree and am "happy" to spend money on the car if it carries on transporting me - my objections are more around it frequently breaking down and leaving me stranded... anyway, got my selector cables ordered, but probably won't have them fitted this side of Easter now. After that, maybe it'll keep on for another while

If only... if you do read through all those threads, you will find plenty from very experienced members (that doesn't include me) who have done all this, yet the problem persists...

I had similar issues with my 75 Connoisseur spent a small fortune on it over the past three years and last year just after her MOT Test was told both sills would need replacing at an estimated cost of £1000+ so I started looking around too, ended up with a beautiful Jaguar XF, which was the only car I could see as a near replacement, still lots of wood and chrome, cream leather interior too, she’s lovely. I still have my 75 on a SORN and don’t know whether to save up and fix her as a car to keep or let her go. She’s a 2.0 Ltr Diesel in great overall condition apart from the sills, new exhaust, new tyres, windows recently Diamond Polished too, she my Golden Beauty. Such a shame to have her sitting doing nothing but that final shock just pushed me over the edge...for now.

Couldn't find them on the net anywhere, but managed to find a post here which included them. Very educational, thanks
