Default Oil Sump for the Diesel - Are they readily available? Does anyone know?

Rover 75 Conn SE CDTi (115) Saloon (Manual) 2004 "53" pre-facelift

Hi guys. I am a new user and was thoroughly enjoying my ownership experience. That was until this morning when I drove over something large and metal that had dropped off a tanker. This has ripped a hole in my sump and dumped all of my oil over the road.

Does anyone know if oil sumps are readily available for the diesel engine? The repairer seems a bit vague so far and I am really just looking for some reassurance....

Hoping you can help.

Derek

Hi Derek

Bummer isn't it?

Happened to me a couple of years ago on the M5 - I was just wondering what the thing in the road was when.....clonk, scrape...omg!!!

I can't comment on availablility but I remember that the cost of the sump bit wasn't as much as I had feared - around £100. My undertray was replaced as well and this cost more for some reason. So check if your undertray is serviceable. It may need a bit of a clean but a 'smallish' hole in it shouldn't mean that it needs replacing.

good luck (& welcome!)

Try giving Rimmer Brothers a ring. You can confirm the Part Numbers by clicking here: http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/tran...c%2fr%2f126976

You require Part Number: LSB103250 Sump assembly-engine oil £129.99 + VAT
From Rimmers as stated or any XPart Spares Dealer.

You could also try Les at SMC Trading for a Used one.

Thanks everyone. I am reassured they are available. One of my fears before buying a 75 was that parts were readily available. The salesman said he had heard there were sufficient parts to build a further 100,000 cars but not sure I believed him.

I am making an insurance claim for this in case there is any damage to the engine so the car is with an approved repairer. They said they have ordered the part but were vague about delivery, hence my post of the question?

If I feel they are not being straight I will quote them the part number make sure they can get one!!

Thanks again. The existence of the club has convinced me I have made the right choice and I am missing my new car already! (Well I am having to drive a Punto as a hire car until my 75 is fixed!)

Thanks Transam. I should hear from the garage that the part is in tomorrow and at least I know it is readily available!

Desperate to get it back on the road as the Punto is bouncing me mad!

Hi everyone. Sorry to raise this one again but I am still off the road.

The new sump is due to be delivered today, but the garage say there is a problem with the plastic sump undertray which was also damaged. They have it on back order but were suggesting it may no longer be available!

That raises two points?

1. Is it still available? Can anyone help?

2. If no longer available, is it critical or can I drive without one?

Any advice would be gratefully received?
