Torque wrench.
Hi, can anyone recommend a good quality 3/8 drive torque wrench that doesn't cost the earth? It'll be mainly for engine work so tolerances would have to be good.

the one we use at work for the 20nm stage of head gaskets is made by 'BETA' quite a good bit of kit but unsure of price

Running around like a loon. Just bought a house. First time buyer! Nice that you noticed. Thanks.
Thanks mate, I was thinking of Britool or Sykes Pickavant maybe. Snapon want £200!! And I bet thats plus VAT. I've not heard of BETA. Any thoughts on Taskmaster, our local motor factors sell them, I went to have a look but they seem a bit christmas crackery?

We have a tool guy that comes round like snap-on. Beta are quit a big brand, try a search on google. Taskmaster are a bit of a budget brand but i suppose they all have to be callibrated

I won't be buying the taskmaster. I've got my eye on a Sykes Pickavant one, they are a decent make aren't they? £100 from Amazon.co.uk of all places!!

Halford Pro range gets my vote. Good bits of kit and reasonably priced plus they come with a lifetime guarantee.
I got a 3/8 one in my tool box and it was £50 |

I've often wondered about 'lifetime' guarantees - is the tool covered for the purchasers lifetime or is it covered for the lifetime of the tool - ie, so when it breaks its come to the end of its lifetime and therefore isn't guaranteed when you actually need it to be under guarantee
