Default P0401 - EGR / Engine mang. light

Hello there,

for the last few months been having a tempermental engine management light problem.
I have the EGR disabled with the screw in the end, and every now an then (could be after 50 miles could be after 250miles) my engine management light comes on, so i get my basic OBDII / CAN BUS FAULT CODE READER / SCANNER out.
check for fault codes.....none
clear codes anyway ....engine management light off for the next 100 or so miles.
Although i dont experience a loss of performance as such I took it round to my mechanic who got his fancy diagnostics out an it found

P0401 EGR flow insufficient

Was wondering if there is a permenant fix to stop it throwing the EML on, I dont want to get complacent every time it comes on, thinking its just the egr when it could be something more serious. likewise i dont want to carry on having to turn it off 5/6 times a week.

Saw this thread...

wondered if that applies to my 04 model?

Thanks

Allan

Sounds like it. Have you got a sensor in the large black rubber pipe that connects the intercooler to the inlet manifold at the front of the engine?

I wouldn't worry too much about the light, as with the CDT I've yet to hear of a any serious fault that would light up the EML.
