Default Spooky FBH

While replacing a bonnet cable the FBH whirred, just for 30 secs or so and then shut up. Think ignition switch was set to accessories but not ready for a start up. Thought it a tad spooky in this weather. Is this normal or should I search for a fault?
Cheers.

Mine does it as well, when I open the door or boot it kicks into life. There is a cure for it on here somewhere I think its the middle wire that needs disconnecting or cutting, not sure of the link but someone will know. Not done anything with mine, sort of got used to it.

the wire referred to is the kbus wire which is red and white with a yellow horizontal stripe. my advice is do not cut this wire unplug the heater or pull the fuse and get it fixed correctly.ps cutting this wire will not make it work btw.

I you sure it is faulty? I just thought it was programed to run the fan to stop it from seizing up, mine has always done it, even when locked

Mine has also done it, not very often, but does seem spooky in a quiet garage.

The story goes, that the FBH was partially programmed to respond to signals on the K-Bus, but it was never completed - an incomplete project. Under certain fault conditions the FBH can not only trigger itself into activity, but can trigger other items on the K-bus into activity.

If the FBH suddenly bursts into life when you open the drivers door, or other weird problems, you have little choice other than to cut the K-bus wire at the 6pin plug mentioned above.

The wire serves no function at all, other than when connected to a T4, when the T4 can interrogate the FBH. It can cause problems to the T4, if the T4 sees that the FBH should be there, but fails to respond - so I have heard.
So, if you disconnect it - ensure it can be easily reconnected.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
